How to Control Value and Show Form
Using only two colors plus white, you'll learn the basics of oil paint handling and mixing. Controlling the values on the sphere creates the illusion of roundness and is the foundation for all realistic oil painting.
The Elements of Color and How They Create Illusions
Create glowing paintings as you explore how color changes as light falls on a simple object. Learn how to avoid flat-looking paintings and how to correct paint mixtures that have gone awry.
Show Distance with Color Shifts
Learn about atmospheric perspective and how colors change with distance through the study of a landscape or still life. While these principles are most apparent outdoors where you are able to see further, they apply to any subject matter.
Layering Techniques & Best Practices
You'll learn how to create a painting in one sitting as well as how to layer paint over multiple sessions. Underpaintings and glazes are covered, as well as rules to follow to make sure your painting is archival.
