What You'll Learn:

Drawing is the foundation of painting!

Learn how to get accurate proportions and realistic shading in the first weeks of class.

Separating the problems of drawing and painting helps you develop each skill more efficiently than jumping directly into painting.

You choose graphite or charcoal based on your individualized goals and experience.

Artist creating a graphite portrait drawing

Master skin tone mixing, paint application, and blending.

With proportion, light, and shadow established, you will shift your focus to understanding oil painting techniques and color mixture control.

Expect to create one finished oil portrait in class. Optional: Create a second portrait between classes to cement new skills at each stage!
